DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY

Each school is unique and to market itself effectively and differentiate from the competition this must be displayed in its imagery. Too many schools use generic, posed and soulless images that offer very little difference from one school to another and leave prospective parents cold.

What I aim to bring is an alternative way of looking at the school as a subject, eschewing those tired and dull tropes of visual marketing. I offer an affordable portfolio of documentary-style images of real school life that can be used for marketing purposes across a school’s website, social media and prospectus. This portfolio is normally produced over a two or three day visit.

By embedding myself in the school routine, gaining the trust of the pupils and working to understand what makes the school different to others I can capture school life as it happens and produce images with an authenticity and prevailing narrative that invoke the school’s true spirit and individuality.

SOCIAL MEDIA CONSULTANCY

Teachers and senior management teams are often flat out attending to the day-to-day of school life so it is understandable that few schools think about social media beyond a quick iphone snap of an event or achievement with a perfunctory caption. This is, though, a missed opportunity.

Social media is one of the first ports of call for prospective parents and the best way for current parents and former pupils to keep up with a school. Given that this is only going to grow in the future, any school that can consistently offer a more high-end output can raise its appeal significantly. I have used my storytelling skills to run social media campaigns for news outlets, and for film marketing and distribution, and I offer a consultation service offering manageable and time-sensitive advice that will transform a school’s social media output.
